Palworld is #1 most played on Xbox and Steam

According to a tweet by Matt Piscatella the executive Director at Video game analyst Circana, on Xbox the viral hit game Palworld surpassed Fortnite on January 22, 2024, in Daily Active Users in the United States.  According to Matt Piscatella, Palworld players played for an average of 200 minutes on that day alone. Fortnite has been the #1 most played game in the United States for a while, this would mean that Palworld is now the most played, dethroning Fortnite from the #1 spot.

It is important to note that at the time of writing, this data has not been reflected on the Xbox website as Fortnite is still the #1, but Circana is known as a very reliable source of gaming industry data and the Xbox website has been known to take time before it updates to reflect changes.

But Palworld is not just topping the charts on Xbox, as today, Palworld became the second game in history to reach 2 million concurrent Steam players. Prior to Palworld, the only game that had ever Achieved this was PUBG: Battlegrounds which sits at a peak of 3.2 million concurrent Steam players. 

But also impressive is the fact that Palworld has constantly been the most played Steam game sitting above Counter Strike 2 for days now. Combined with Xbox one can safely say that Palworld has had a history breaking run and could easily be called the most successful indie/AA game in recent memory, not even AAA games with tens of millions of dollars in marketing can achieve this, but Palworld has done it.

And the future’s looking bright for Palworld as developer Pocket Pair revealed their road map with bug fixes planned to include cross play between Xbox and Steam users and a lot more. Palworld has certainly taken the gaming world by surprise, and it has been amazing to watch the record-breaking run of Palworld.
