Palworld, an open-world survival adventure game in which you can befriend and battle mysterious creatures known as Pals, has become the most successful third-party launch in Xbox history. The game, which went into early access on January 19, 2024, attracted nearly 7 million players on Xbox in 10 days, breaking every previous record on the platform.
The announcement was made via an Xbox Wire blog post and posted on X (formerly Twitter) by Xbox Chief of Marketing Aaron Greenberg, this sparked widespread celebration among Palworld enthusiasts. The game even managed to reach 3 million daily active users across Xbox.
But the good news doesn’t end there, Palworld has sold over 12 million copies on Steam, making the total number of gamers between Xbox and Steam 19 million.
Palworld has gotten rave reviews from fans, who commend its freedom, and courage to create a Pokemon-style (in terms of monster-catching) game that many consider superior to Pokemon. The game is also being compared to Breath of the Wild, the highly regarded Zelda game that changed the open-world genre, and the gameplay loop is comparable to Ark Survival. Some of the elements that users have appreciated include riding Pals, constructing bases, and participating in thrilling boss encounters.
Palworld is expected to remain in Early Access for at least a year, during which time the creators will focus on bug fixes and adding new content and features, such as additional Pals, biomes, quests, multiplayer modes, and more. The developers have also shared a roadmap outlining what they intend to do in the future.
Palworld has taken the gaming world by storm and nobody saw it coming, the game is available on the Xbox Store, Steam, and as a download with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
